What is this #LookUpPlz hashtag campaign

Ever been out in public and wanted to say something to someone but felt yourself shy away?
Maybe wanted to ask a quick question or give a compliment?
I know right! What’s up with that? I never use to have this problem, but now I find it harder to say one little word…Hello.

For many different reasons, it’s as if the word “Hello” is becoming more and more awkward to simply even say. We are getting so lost in having the entire world at our fingertips and not having to engage in real-life events, it’s now like we are becoming more and more afraid to engage with others.

Around this time last year my daughter and I were in the garage talking about this very subject and at the time we were talking about all this, my daughter T was traveling daily to school and she wanted to quickly start trying out our theory in different ways.

One day soon after, she was in the train going to school and saw a chance to leave a note for a girl she noticed, T wrote a short uplifting message and gave it to her as she exited the train.
Other various times, she would purposely sit in the train or bus and just look at people, waiting for someone to Look Up so she could smile and try to start a conversation.

Over the last year, she and I have both done random things like that and the same thing kept happening.
Lots of people really did want to talk and people have truly appreciated the engagement being started. She and I have had many nice conversations with strangers.

Later in time, T actually came across the girl she had given the message to on the train. The girl recognized T and was quick to talk to her, telling her that the note had been the highlight of her day. She also stated that she had posted it online because it had meant so much to her.

Even if you’re a shy type person, you can easily leave a card and little note behind, you never know how much you could brighten someone’s day.
